Favorite Breweries and Brews Throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains

Now that fall is here, it’s time to get out those boots, grab your growler, and visit some local breweries. The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to some of the best brews and views in the US. After visiting some of these breweries, bring some beer home with you in a growler that you can serve to your guests and get them to try. From IPA to stouts, there is something for everyone at these great breweries. Now it’s time to #DrinkLocal and get some cold brews!

Growler Haus

Near our Anderson Design Studio in Anderson County, this brewery was established in 2012. Visit this quaint space to enjoy a cold brewsky. With over 18 beers on tap, you’ll never feel like they don’t have anything for your taste buds. The Growler Haus also serves wine for those who aren’t in a beer mood. They have plenty of events like live music, trivia nights, and great pizza and beer specials on Pints and Pies night. Join their Haus Tribe for exclusive perks like:
  • 20% off beer on Thursdays
  • 1 free pint per month
  • Access to Haus Tribe merchandise
  • ...and so much more!

Archetype Brewing

Visit this popular brewery in Buncombe County near our Asheville Design Studio. With 12 beers on tap, there are plenty of beers to choose from. People not only love going there for the great beer, but they also go there for the nice atmosphere and live music. Want to bring your coworkers for happy hour? You can book an event on their website. They also have locally made small bites available when you need something to kick your hunger to the curb. Archetype Brewing is also dog-friendly. Just make sure they are on a leash.

BeeCraft Mead Company

We know this isn’t technically a brewery but for those who like mead and want a brewery atmosphere in Dawson County, this is the spot for you. Not far from our Dawsonville Design Studio, this meadery has 7 types of mead available. Did you know by drinking mead, you are supporting bees? We’ve all heard that bees are going extinct and we need to protect them. Well, this meadery makes it their mission to #savethebees by only using local honey. Never tried mead before? Perfect! Their mead has won multiple awards so you’ll be trying some of the best.

Cartecay River Brewing

If you want great atmosphere and scenery, go to this brewery that’s inspired by the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the Cartecay River. Just newly opened in July 2019 in Gilmer County, near our Ellijay Design Studio, this is a great brewery to visit with your dogs. Have a brew with your favorite pup! You can choose from up to 15 brews. Don’t worry, you can try a flight or even take home a growler. Since it's just newly opened, visit quickly before it gets too crowded. We think it’s soon to be one of the best breweries in Georgia.

Bacchus Beer and Growlers

Located on the shores of Lake Chatuge in Towns County near our Hiawassee Design Studio, this taphouse has 15 rotating and seasonal taps. It has the largest selection of taps to choose from in the area. They have tastings so there’s no need to commit to a growler without trying it. You can also get a custom keg for hosting a party in your Brown Haven Home. Need some wine at your party also? They also have a wine shop.

Bonus: Appalachian Mountain Brewery

We just had to put this on our list! Near McDowell County in North Carolina by our Asheville Design Studio, this brewery specialized in sustainable high-quality beer. With 13 beers and ciders on tap and a great atmosphere, this is the spot to be. Did we mention they also support local nonprofits?
