Speaking of unwinding, we’re winding our way through the Blue Ridge Mountains to highlight some of our favorite local wineries. Georgia might be known for peaches but these wineries have us only thinking about the grapes!

Bear Claw Vineyards

Featured in Southern Living, and located in the heart of Blue Ridge in Fannin County Georgia, this vineyard is a great place for tours and events. Blue Ridge is known for its breathtaking mountain views, pristine bubbling springs, scenic hikes, and amazing fishing and wildlife. Slow down, take a break, and relax with close friends and loved ones at Bear Claw Vineyards. 

Not only do they offer the usual wine tastings, but visitors can also get their zen on by taking a yoga class! Called Namaste and Cabernet this yoga class combines yoga and tasting! Enjoy an hour-long yoga session followed by a tasting of six Bear Claw Vineyards wines! 

Not a Yogi? Bear Claw Vineyards also boasts a popular tourist destination, The Blue Ridge Treehouse. Built by the Treehouse Guys from the DIY network and unlike others, this is a real Treehouse in the woods and there is a real live tree inside the structure! The Treehouse can be reserved for visitors to stay and overlooks the working vineyard and creek that runs through the property.

Bear Claw Vineyards is a scenic backdrop for North Georgia residents and visitors alike! Lake Blue Ridge, Chattahoochee National Forest, and the Cohutta Wilderness are part of the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River and provide an abundance of attractions and recreational activities. 

Cartecay Vineyards

Originally a farm dating back to the 1890s, this local gem was converted into a vineyard in 2007. Cartecay Vineyards is located in Ellijay, Georgia in the eastern part of Gilmer County, in the Cartecay region. Not only is this area great for building a new custom home but it’s also an ideal landscape for growing wine grapes. 

Cartecay Vineyards has over 14 acres of vines planted on their farm and also features a refurbished tasting barn! The Tasting Barn features a tasting bar, wood fire stove with seating area, covered porch, deck and an events room, which was originally a hay loft. The Tasting Barn is a great place to sample Cartecay’s ten different wines. 

If you’re visiting Historic Downtown Ellijay, stop into Cartecay Wine & Craft to try Cartecay wines and other local Georgia wines and craft beers.

Linville Falls Winery

Family owned and operated and located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains in McDowell County, Linville Falls Winery is passionate about growing quality grapes and making the most delicious wine in Appalachian High Country. Linville Falls appreciates the culture of wine and encourages their visitors to come face to face with nature, to see the vines, walk among them, and drink their fruits. 

Linville Falls hosts a variety of events throughout the year and during the summer many talented bands will come to play over the weekends, making this winery an ideal stop on the High Country Wine Trail; a wine trail featuring the wines of the Appalachian High Country American Viticulture Area.

Added bonus, this winery is also pet friendly, even in their tasting room; so you don’t have to leave your furry friend behind! 

Linville Falls Winery’s convenient McDowell County location also provides visitors with ample nearby attractions to visit such as Linville Falls, Wiseman’s View, Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mountain, Table Rock, and Hawksbill. 

The Cottage Vineyard & Winery

Voted one of the top wineries in the USA The Cottage Vineyard & Winery is located in the mountains of White County, Northern Georgia and boasts the most beautiful 360 degree mountain views just north of Cleveland, Georgia. 

All Cottage Wines are made on the estate and in the wine cellar. Currently grown on site are; Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, and Merlot along with Pinot Meunier and Muscat. The Cottage Vineyard & Winery offers wine tastings that allow guests to select a flight of wines of their choice from the tasting menu.

In addition to the many offerings of wine The Cottage Vineyard & Winery estate also pays homage to our military men and women with their North Georgia Honor Wall. A Georgia white marble Normandy style cross on three tiers, dedicated to all military for contemplation, honor and reflection, sits atop the highest point of the property. The Honor Wall is always expanding and memorial name bricks and granite slabs are available for purchase to honor loved ones living or deceased.
