Building a custom home can feel overwhelming, especially if it is your first time. How long will it take. What steps are involved. At Brown Haven Homes, we make the process clear, simple, and exciting. Here is what you can expect from your first conversation to move-in day.
Step 1: Site Evaluation (Day 1)
After you sign your initial contract and pay your deposit, our team visits your land to assess slope, soil, utilities, access points, and the overall suitability for your chosen floor plan. This step ensures that your design fits the property perfectly and that you understand all of your site costs before locking anything in.
If you choose not to move forward after the site evaluation, we fully refund your deposit.
Pro Tip: At Brown Haven Homes, we coordinate your custom land survey after site evaluation approval. This survey maps the exact placement of your floor plan on your land and helps make sure your build begins on the right foundation, literally.
Step 2: Design and Selections (2 to 3 Weeks)
This is one of the most exciting parts of your build. Inside our Design Studio, you will choose cabinets, flooring, fixtures, siding, and more. Our Design Specialists guide you through each decision so your home feels cohesive, intentional, and aligned with your personal style.
At Brown Haven, quality is never an afterthought. Each material in our Design Studio is handpicked for its craftsmanship, longevity, and ability to elevate your home with lasting elegance. We partner with premium suppliers and continually update our offerings to bring you the latest trends alongside classic, enduring styles.
At the Finalization Stage, you will review and sign your final addendum. After this point, design changes cannot be made. This is also when our Fixed Price Promise begins, locking in your total cost so there are no unexpected surprises later.
Checklist: Bring inspiration photos, Pinterest boards, color palettes, or any visuals that help communicate your vision.
Step 3: Pre-Construction Planning (4 to 6 Weeks)
During this stage, we finalize every detail to prepare your home for construction.
This phase includes your Pre-Con meeting, where you will meet with your Construction Leader and Production Leader to review your plans, verify that all design selections are correct, and ensure every technical detail aligns with your build.
While no new design changes can be made at this point, we will make corrections if something was not accurately reflected from your selections.
